Towing Issues

Anytime a vehicle is impeding the flow of traffic it is towed, immediately to within 30 minutes. Vehicles parked/abandoned on the shoulder are towed to the staging area between 2 and 24 hours. A vehicle causing a traffic problem is most likely handled by the NC Highway Patrol.

Location of Staging Area

Vehicles that are disabled within the project construction limits are towed out of the site to the following location:

A staging area directly across from the intersection of Old Haywood And Smoky Park Highway just north of exit 44 on Smoky Park Highway. To retrieve vehicles from this site, call 828-667-2647. This towing service is part of the project costs and the owners of the vehicles will not be charged for towing to the staging area.

Only vehicles displaying a lime-green sticker placed by Taylor & Murphy are towed by this service. Towing is available 24 hours/day, 365 days per year. The Highway Patrol is advised of towed vehicles within 30 minutes of towing.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol may tow vehicles at their own discretion at any time. These vehicles may be towed to impound lots or other locations.
